There are 145 million people in Russia.

 22415 people live in our Smolenskii district.

 The population of the village of Smolenskoye is 8792 people.

There are a lot of elderly people in the village as young people prefer to move to the cities and towns. Elderly grandparents prefer to live with their families. Only those who do not have relatives live in the nursing houses.

Most of people are engaged in the agriculture work.

 We grow wheat, sunflowers, rye, sugar-beet, potatoes and other vegetables. There are also cattle-farms with cows and horses.

 

Moose, bears, wolves, foxes, hares live in the forests.

There are different species of river fishes: pikes, perches, crucians and catfishes.

Tomtits, sparrows, crows, magpies live in the village and some wild ducks live near the lakes.
